Halter Creek

Overview

Halter Creek is a 17 square mile watershed located in south central Blair County. The headwaters of the watershed originate in Bedford County to the south, and then flow north into Blair County. The watershed covers approximately 90% of Roaring Spring Borough and 35% of Taylor Township. The watershed also occupies small sections of Freedom Township and Blair Township. Agriculture, forests, and urban/suburban development are all prominent land uses within the watershed. The upper reaches of the watershed are primarily agricultural crop land, while land in the lower portion of the watershed is largely developed.
